Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

signiture fraud on legal forms

I moved out of an apartment and filled out a form to be

removed from the lease, my final roomate to sign the

form ''lost it'' and never informed me, instead she left

my name on the lease and then forged my signiture on

the move-out forms making it appear as though I still

lived in the apartment. Now I am being held

responsible for some of their unpaid last months rent.

What legal action can I take against her?

Re: signiture fraud on legal forms

Thank you for your posting.

If you are part of a civil action, you can counter sue or cross-complain, against this third party, to bring her into the suit and prove damages as to her. You also have the right to sue her separately for any damages from her fraud, or forgery. Finally, the police may be interested in this case, as forgery is a crime.

Thanks again, and I hope this answer was helpful. If you feel you need further questions answered, more information, or representation, please feel free to contact me directly at [email protected] -- I'm happy to help in any way that I can. Best of luck.
