Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
if simeone reports their son stole their car and then they get it back in three days, and doesn't notify anyone. and now the son is in jail, if the mother goes to court can she get the charges dropped?

She can ask the D.A. to drop the charges, but the decision is his and not hers. It certainly isn't up to the court, so the approach you describe has no chance of success. Besides, the fact that she got the car back does not mean it wasn't stolen. A thief is still a thief even after the victim recovers her property.
