Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Okay here is the situation my daughter is was dating a guy who in California were we live shot a man who died a day later, well my daughter knowing it all or just love blind took off with the boyfriend who is 20 and she is 17 , to Florida were they were caught she has lied about her age and who she really is and is in county jail being charged with asseory after the fact of a capital felony, and told a reporter that she knew she was fleeing with but was not there when he shot the man who has now died. I dont know if they have figured out that she is only 17 yet they have her booked as a 20 year old women. what should i do and what could happen to her if i let her be 20 and handle it on her own beings she knows so much...

and why would he be brought back to CA and not her?

I am sorry you are facing this crisis in your family. If California doesn't want your daughter, she will have to defend the case in Florida. If you are able, retain a qualified Florida criminal defense attorney for her. While I am not qualified to advise on Florida law, I hope someone tells your daughter to shut her yap and quit talking to reporters (or anybody else) about the case.

Her criminal acts of giving false information to a police officer, helping conceal a known fugitive, etc. were committed in Florida. So Florida court for her, murder in California for him. It's that simple.

I agree with Mr. Fleetwood and Mr. Stone. Your daughter needs a Florida lawyer ASAP, and she needs to stop talking about her case.

As for your willingness to "let her be 20 and handle it on her own", the authorities will very quickly figure out her identity and her real age.
