Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I was smoking a cigarette in my car in my friends driveway when a sheriff pulled onto her property and asked for my drivers license when the car was not ruuningvor keys in ignition. Being I didn't have license does that give right to search and arrest me even if I wasnt driving and was parked on private property?

The facts you describe don't seem to justify either a search or an arrest. But there are probably other facts you haven't revealed, including some you may not know of. To pick just one example, you might have matched the description of the suspect in a recent, nearby crime. I would need more information before I could offer any guidance.
