Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Sold stolen item on eBay on consignment.Police contacted me.
I recently gained a new consignment client who gave me two Meraki routers to sell on ebay under my user account.I had him sign a contract and the items sold. The buyer of the items found out they were stolen.Since then a local police investigator contacted me by email.I responded with my phone number and an explanation. She then called my cell twice and I haven't responded. What are my legal rights/liability?I know that my client himself unknowingly bought them stolen as well and I don't want to ''rat'' him out but don't want to be prosecuted either.I already told the investigator that I don't keep consignment items at my house and that this was one of my first clients. Please help me.

Talking with the police without an attorney is risky. You are probably in a position that either you tell the police who you purchased property from or be prosecuted for the theft.
