how do i go to someones court date today and confess that the charges they are being tried for i comitted, and be taken seriously?

Dramatic moments like someone walking into the courtroom and confessing happen on TV but are rare in real life.

Depending on the nature of the proceedings, the judge might not even allow you to speak.

Contact the defendant's lawyer and share this information with him or her.

I agree with Mr. Marshall. Among the things a judge is equipped to handle on his busy morning calendar, taking a confession and acquitting the one being prosecuted are not among them. Contact the defendant's attorney or the police officer who arrested him and give him your statement. But of the two, contacting the attorney is the better approach to take responsibility. Obviously, you should speak with your own attorney first, to find out what the consequences of your confession will be. However, I do applaud you for doing the right thing.
