Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

My son was arrested 8/21/12 for failure to appear for court on 8/1. He went to court 8/22/12 and the case was continued .He is currently in custody in Los Angeles county with a court date of 9/4/12. The FTA warrent is for $100,000. He did not show up for the restitution hearing 8/1, he did not complete any community service and has nt paid any fines in the whole year that he had. He wants me to bail him out but I fear that the penalities he faces on 9/4/12 will see him sentenced to jail time. He was convicted of a misdemeanor but on the inmate information page it says felony level for charge.

How do I find out what the possible penalities are for him?

You could call his lawyer. The best way to do that is to have your son call his lawyer and authorize the lawyer to answer your questions.
