Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
My son was arrested for being at place where drugs are being sold . He was released with no court date and was told they have up to a year to file charges against him. The police department is holding the money he had on him also his cell phone and his drivers license. What can be done about this.

Probably not much until the year is up. If you try to get it back the police will say that the case is under investigation and they need to keep the evidence. He can get the driver's license replaced by DMV.
Some law firms, like ours, does work we call, "Pre-filing Investigation.". You should contact a law firm who does that work immediately, and go over the facts of the case, and let the expert tell you exactly how you should proceed. I wish you well.........David Wallin
