Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
My son was arrested for public intoxication Code 647(f). He doesn't have money for an attorney. He doesn't want to plead guilty or no contest because he doesn't want it on his record. Should he get a Public Defender?

Yes. That is really his only option, if he can't afford a lawyer. Most attorneys would charge about 1500 to 2500 for the whole case up to trial.
