Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
My son is on probation for having a knife on him, which he bought off a tool truck like matco. he has a court date for 4/26/10 for an assult charge which the d.a. has picked up. does he need a lawyer? will he be looking at jail time?
he was not arrested for the knife...like taken to jail - but they considered the ticket on the side of the road like being arrested.

Your son could be sent to jail or prison to serve the remainder of his sentence. So yes, he needs a lawyer. He should contact whoever represented him when he was prosecuted.
