Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

My Son

I have a 19 year old son who is currently incarcerated at wayside in castaic for a ''Robbery'' charge.

We had hired a lawyer at the beginning, but due to financial difficulties, we are unable to proceed with his help, but we were appointed a Public Defender, which seemed to have no interest what so ever in my son or his case. The Judge has set his next court date for a month, to see if we could come up with the expenses for us to hire our lawyer back, and with this public defender, he said some things I didn't even understand, and the case got tried for a week.

It is like he just wanted to hang my son without even taking any interest in his case. I know he is innocent, and just because of financial difficulties, I have to still see him behind a glass wall. Is there anything I can do to help my son?

Re: My Son

There is little that you can do other than help him get an attorney. You cannot get provide any help for him over the internet. The attitude of the public defender is not uncommon. Most of them have too many clients to do a quality job for them. Also it was my impression that you were attempting to rehire the attorney that was representing him. You may want to rethink that approach. Searching for a new attorney is probably your best bet.
