The police and prosecutors are not required to believe you. Victims of domestic violence often lie to protect their partners. That seems to be what the authorities think you are doing.

Your statements matter, of course. They may turn out to be the deciding factor in the case. But they won't prevent a prosecution. If the jury believes your spouse is guilty, your statements won't prevent a conviction either.
