Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Stabbing a deceased
I'm a writer (18 published books, so far) now writing a novel. The fictional victim has been stabbed eight times, apparently killing her. But I'm having corner determine she died because a few hours earlier she'd overdoesed on sleeping pills. What, if any, is the penalty, law, and such, re stabbing someone already dead? (Please let me know if you'd like acknowledgement on the ''credit page in my book.)

Re: Stabbing a deceased
The stabber would be guilty of attempted murder. The stabber was attempting to kill the intended victim.
