Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Statutory Rape question

My ex-girlfriend was 16-17 when i was with her. When i turned 18 i broke up with her because i was afraid of the rape issue. She has recentley turned 18 and said go back out with me or else. I said no i have moved on etc. So instead of her getting over it she has tryed to get a restraining order against me, and also threatining me with statutory rape, i have never had sex with her while she was underage and i was overage. She has all sorts of people though saying i have but its all lies. Basically i want to know is there any chance of a statutory rape issue for me to worry about. There is no proof or foundation for her lies so I dont see how i would be in any trouble, what bothers me is that the system will fail.

Re: Statutory Rape question

The justice system failing worries me too.

There isn't much you can do at this time. So I'd not spend a lot of time worrying. Easy to say isn't it.

The witnesses can only testify that you dated the young lady. It would eventually get down to you said she said. These are really tough cases for the D. A. If every young man, that ever dated a girl and nothing happened, was charged criminally. There would not be any young men out of prison. So I'd place my trust in the system. and say a few prayers. Then tell her again if you meet her accidently that she is a very nice person. But you've moved on. And then you need to move on i.e. wave at her when you see her but always stay away from her if you can.

If she continues to threaten you. You might want to contact this service again. And ask about reporting her to the police, or trying to record a conversation between you and her.
