Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I stoled my neighbors atm card that came in my mail box and used almost like $470.00 of it. Will i go to jail for it? The postal inspector already spoke with me and i admited to them that i did do it because i was short on rent money and needed money, but i was sorry and i will pay them back. i just dont want to go to jail and this is the first time that i have commited a mistake in my life. can someone please help me.

Yes. You not only stole $470, you confessed! If stealing money was your first mistake, speaking to the police was the second (although the ATM took your photograph and you probably would have been caught anyway). Off to federal prison you go, and when you get out you won't work again.
Mr. Stone's legal analysis is correct, but he seems too pessimistic about the outcome. With a good attorney, you may be able to work out a deal that doesn't involve prison. Since you apparently can't afford to hire a lawyer, you will need a federal public defender. Until you get one, stop talking about your case with anyone.
