Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

i was stop walking, the cop ran my name,then asked if i had any wepons as he had me putting my hands behind my back,patting me down pulld out a money clip that looked like brass knuckels,he put me in the cop car,then asked me about a guy around the area that sold drugs and said i could get out of going to jail if i talked with some guy from the task.so i meet they said i could work with them to make a buy of some drugs,they let me go,i then was told to call every day,

The cops want you to "work off" your case. The problem is that, in most cases, the cops string people along and after you try to help, they don't live up to their deal, and charge you anyway in many instances.
