Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Ive been given a suponea to be a witness but i have no iformation to provide in the case because i did not witness anything like thy're trying to say that I did. Now the da as well as having to come in and testify also is trying to tell me that they want me to give a written statement about what happened.
Do I have to provide them with a written statement if I'm already going to testify?
And when I was given my suponea the back of it where it says proof of service was not filled out.
Does the person who serves it to me have to fill out the back or can they leave it blank and they fill out a diffrent form which they provide to the courts?

You do not have to give a written statement. The proof of Service is filled out after you are served and filed with the court if you do not show up.
