what happens when someone does not surrender to jail the day the judge required them to?

They'll send bloodhounds after you, and even crossing a stream and hiding in the weeds won't throw off their scent for very long. Being a fugitive is forever, and unless you have a Swiss bank account and a summer house in Gstaad, ultimately they will catch you, inconveniencing whoever might also be occupying your home and/or vehicle, and take you on a long series of bologna-sandwich-filled bus rides back to County.
