do your kids (14 yrs old) have the right to always have you present when talking to the police and do they have the right to refuse a lie detector test

"Essentially" the juvenile can have the parent present and upon request the police "should" honor that just as a request to have counsel. Failure to allow or to deny the request to have the parent goes to the voluntariness of the statement. present...everyone, juveniles included can refuse the poly.

Yes, the police cannot refuse to have the parents present. Also, juveniles are entitled to have an attorney present. Also, there is no requirement regarding a polygraph (lie detector). If you cannot afford a private attorney, one will be appointed.
