Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
What can be done about a television producer who sexual exploits young women?
I was approached by a so-called ''TV producer'' in January of 2003. He told me that if I slept with him, I would get a part in his next up comming movie. I did what he asked and he bailed on me. I have instant messenger conversations with him saying he wanted sex from me in order to get the job. I also had to enter onto Warner Brothers Studio lot to meet the guy.
I can not get a hold of him now. He does not answer any emails I have sent him.
I have also found out that he is probably a fraudulent ''producer'' who doesn't even exist. I have had many people in the industry try to look up his name and info at special listings online to see if he is a memeber of organizations that producers must belong to, and his name never comes up.
I would like to find out what can be done. I have everything on paper with what he said, where to meet him and what he looked like. I can easily have those documents printed out. I would also like to know if I can go after Warner Bros. for being on their property when this incident occurred.
There are other details I can go into once I have a chance to talk to someone who can help me. Please let me know if I have a case.
Thank you

Re: What can be done about a television producer who sexual exploits young women
You may have a decent case against him for luring you into sex by false presenses, but whether you have a case against the studio is unclear. The mere fact that he was on their property wouldn't make them liable, but depending upon his connection to the studio you might have a good case there, too. If this man actually had the authority to do what he claimed on behalf of the studio, you could have a good case for sexual harassment.
The first problem is finding this man. It sounds like you don't know who he really is, and your case will be hard to pursue -- both against him and against the studio -- without knowing his identity.
Your question was posted as a criminal law inquiry and not one about a civil case, so let me add that obtaining consensual sex by false pretenses is not a crime. Offering sex (or agreeing to provide it) in exchange for a job seems to fall within the definition of prostitution so you may run the risk here of being prosecuted yourself, though under the circumstances that seems very unlikely.
Feel free to contact me directly if you want to discuss this matter further.

Thank you for your posting, and I'm sorry to hear you were taken advantage of.
As previously mentioned, there may not even be a crime here, but you might have a civil suit -- certainly against him, and perhaps against the studio if you can show any ties to the studio and their knowledge of his activities.
I can't guarantee you this would be an easy case, but I'd be happy to investigate further for you, if you wish, and see if there is some way I can either get more information or otherwise help in any way that I can.
Please feel free to email me directly at [email protected]. Thanks, and best of luck.
