is a text message enough evidence to charge you with selling of marijuana or do you need to be caught red handedly?

A text message alone will never fly. They need to prove the elements of the offense to some degree before they can introduce your statement. Just what else they have and what they can prove depends on the ENTIRE case.

I agree with Mr. Dane. As to the second part of your question, you can indeed be convicted even though you weren't caught in the act.
