first time charge

Both me and my friend have been convicted of a possession of marijuana over 28.5 and my friend had this charge and the charge of possession of narcotics (4 vicodin). I was just wondering what our first time charge will be.

Re: first time charge

If I understand you correctly, you have not been convicted or formally charged yet. It looks to me you will be charged with possession of controlled substances for personal use. I would get an attorney to try to beat it. Unless I am missing some key facts here (such as any prior convictions), the worst case scenario is diversion or so-called DEJ where you will take some classes and stay on probation for about 1 1/2 at the end of which the case will be completely dismissed and wiped off your record.

My advice: if you are walking around with any marijuana get yourself a doctor's recommendation . It is not difficult to get one nowadays and it will qualify you for protection (with limits) under California medical marijuana laws.

Good luck,
