Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Is there a time limit on how long the state has to press charges or make an arrest on a felony for 'threatening School Personell' on a minor? The crime was commited in December of 2008 and my son was arrested in February of 2010.

Generally the statute of limitations for a felony is 3 years. There are many felonies that have longer statute of limitations. The state has 3 years in which to file a complaint on a felony.
