Time owed

If you did 4 1/2 yrs in a federal jail while you were awaiting your court hearing, do they owe you credit for that time?

That's an awfully long time to have to wait for a trial, especially in the federal system. But yes, when a defendant who has been in custody pending trial is convicted, he receives credit toward his sentence for the time he has already spent behind bars.
