Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

First off thank you for your time, I have a question My father was arrested and Im trying to locate him,I believe he was arrested today for a something to do will several pounds of marijuana from 5 years ago in California and he is not in the county jail, and its been 10 hrs since then. Ive called bail bonds to help locate him and they cant find him either, i believe the warrant may have been federal and was from another state(New Hampshire). My understanding is that no matter if its federal or from another state he would have just gone to the county jail first no matter what. Is that correct? Is it possible he could just be questioned and not arrested even though its been 10 hrs? Also if its federal and if he happen to be transported right away is there a way for me to find him?Any help will be appreciated Im just trying to locate him

If it's federal, you need to find out where federal prisoners are held in your area. County jail is for state offenses, and if he was arrested on a federal warrant, then he is in a federal facility, and not the county jail.
