Tracking devices are planted in my cars by cops. Would that be illegal for me to locate and destroy the tracking devices?

It's your car. If I found something on my car that I thought was a tracking device, I wouldn't destroy it, I'd ship it to Schenectady or maybe Nome.

Remember to take the batteries out of your cell phone if you don't want your location revealed.

This sounds like a question by someone in a debate with someone in a bar, rather than an actual legal problem. If you have police tracking devices in your car, you have bigger problems than just removing the tracking devices. If you have tracking devices, you are a person of interest in an investigation.

I'd consider hiring an attorney to head off an indictment. Unless this is a bar debate, in which case this is an inappropriate forum.
