Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

trespassing

I was caught fishing in an area that was posted no trespassing. the sheriff gave me a ticket under penal code 555 in california. am I looking at any jail time? the sheriff told me that I will just paying a fine.

Unless you are some kind of serious repeat offender, you will just pay a fine.
