Turning down a deal

Ok they offered me a deal and I want to know if I turned it down does the deals get worse or better? do they always prefer to settle before going to trial?

They say the deals will get worse, but in my experience they get better.

There is no rule...some get worse...some get better..key is how good is the attorney in assessing your individual circumstance?

No rule here but the deal should get better RIGHT before trial if your counsel looks like he is ready to go ahead. In my view the three magical words in criminal defense are "Ready For Trial." When your counsel announces ready that is when good things tend to happen.

That said, do not quote me on this or hold me responsible if it turns out differently in your case. Something might change in the last minute. Each case is at least slightly different.

I would agree with what the others have stated. No hard and fast rule. It really depends on the circumstances.
