Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Underage nude photos

My wife intercepted nude photos of her 19-year old son's 17-year old girlfriend. Legally, she is not sure of what to do. She wants her son to stop seeing theis girl, but he won't. If she turns over the photos to authorities, her son may get into trouble. She wants the girl's mother to know what has been going on as well. What should she do? Give the pictures to the police or not?

Re: Underage nude photos

The question involves morality, the mother will be he ultimate judge. Assuming the pictures depicted them in the act, the decision boils down to whether the mother doesn't mind her son prosecuted or not. Possession of nude picture's of a minor is in itself a chargeable offense, a sexual act however can be prosecuted as statutory rape.
