Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
unlawful possession of a weapon(brass knuckles)
My boyfriend is 18 and we were out partying one night with a couple of friends and we got pulled over. The cops told us to step out of the vehicle so that they could search it. they found some brass knuckles and they asked who did they belong to. my boyfriend stepped up and told the cops that they were his. the cops pulled him aside and asked him questions.then they hand cuffed him and took him to downtown. before the cop left i asked him if my boyfriend had an attitude with him ad the cop said ''no he was very respectful and very honest.'' my boyfriend turned 18 on march 02. he has never been in trouble with the law. he has a clean record and this was his first offense. he was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon.i want to know that if he has good behavior while he is in detention, will he have to do time in jail or will they just give him probation or community service instead.

Your boyfriend has a shot at having the whole thing dropped, if he is as clean as you say he is. Getting a good lawyer involved will increase his chances of getting a good result.
