Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I had been on unsupervised probation for graffiti and the sheriff did a probation search she never told me she was recording me and when I read the paper she stated she had turned the recorder on in her pocket before knocking on the door, is that legal?

Yes it is legal. California has laws that make it illegal to record PRIVATE conversations without consent of all of the parties involved. A conversation with a probation officer or other law enforcement officer is not considered private.
