Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Vehicular Manslaughter
Almost a year ago I was driving and fell asleep. My 8 month old daughter was killed. I have lived with the guilt but recently read the CHP report recommending VM charges. I have not heard from the DA yet. What is the statute of limitations to be charged for this?

The statute of limitations for most felonies is 3 years, and misdemeanors is 1 year. Since it was nearly a year ago the da will probably file as a felony if they file at all. You should contact an attorney and not answer any furthe questions, except your name address and the name of your attorney.
