Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I'm currently the victim in a criminal case. A guy threw a bottle at my car and ran me off the road. I called the cops and when they caught him he admitted throwing the bottle at my car (it cracked my windshield). After I got a call last week offering restitution a process server showed up at my office this monday. I wasn't available so I have a feeling he is trying to either sue me to make the criminal case go away(is that even legal?), or subpoena me to testify. The server told my receptionist they only had until the 10th to reach me (but I'm traveling for the next month so that is not going to happen). If they are unable to reach me by then what could happen depending on what they are trying to serve?

Why don't you get the papers and find out what they are really about instead of hiding and speculating about them? Nothing good ever comes out of that kind of behavior.

If it is the DA and if it is the trial date the case could be dismissed. If it is the defense the chance for a civil compromise may be lost.

I agree with Mr. Roach. You should talk to the lawyers. They can probably work around your schedule if you talk to them.
