Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I am the victim of a violent domestic assault that resulted in my losing my left eye and being permanently disfigured. After beating me brutally in the face, the defendant tried to prevent me from leaving. He stood in the driver doorway, ordered me out of the vehicle. I punched the gas and he grabbed the steering wheel. I fled, barely able to see, knowing that if he had gotten me out of the vehicle, I'd be dead. After I was released from the hospital the investigating officer interviewed me. It was during this interview that I learned the defendant was also hospitalized. Apparently, because he tried to hang on to the steering wheel, when he did let go, the back wheel of the vehicle ran him over. I had absolutely no knowledged of this until the interview. Yet in his report, it states that I knew I ran him over at the time. The prelim is set for end of August. How can I correct his report so it accurately states the facts?

Good heavens. I hope you are not telling us that you were also criminally charged. In any event, the police report is not gospel, nor is it admissible in evidence. The lawyers will bring out what really happened by questioning you on the witness stand (assuming your role is that of a victim).
