Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Does voting for a candidate for public office have any legal similarities to a contract? To be more specific, if a candidate makes false statements that causes a voter to vote for him, and he wins that election and gains the salary and benefits thereof, which the voter pays for through taxes, can the voter sue him/her for misrepresentation if and when the falsity of the statements are made public after the election?

No. Your remedy is to vote for someone else the next time. You can also try to put political pressure on him to resign. In some jurisdictions, you may be able to campaign for his recall. You can also seek his impeachment if his actions are extreme.
