Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
welfare fraud
I am being investigated for welfare fraud and feel very defenseless. I have allowed the investigator to search my home and she found no evidence of my child's father living in the home. My aunt that I live with as well as my child's grandparents have all told her that he doesn't live here. He visits my child weekly, works and has even went to school in the same city as us, but has never lived on the home. she asked neighbors questions and hasn't shown me anything regarding why she has come. She did telll me though that because I didn't report that I was added to his bank account back in June of 2006 in a completly different county, that it's considered fraud. My son's dad also used my aunts address on several paperworks for his own convenience; insurance, work, and school. All the while he has been living with his parents in stockton, whom the worker hasn't even spoken to. THis whole thing is one big mixup and I need to know my rights. please help.
