Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
will a 2003 conviction in Kansas For Drug Manufacturing have any weight on current open sales charge at the end of 2010. I'm still out on bail currently for the sales charge and am due back in court in a few days for my prelim. I just wanted to know if the charge in 2003 will have any barrier on my current charge in California.

It will probably not be admissible against you during the guilt phase of your trial, unless you open the door through your own evidence and/or arguments. But it will be relevant to your sentencing. The prosecutor will take it into account before trial when deciding whether to offer you a deal and on what terms. She may also factor it into her argument about increasing your bail (if she somehow didn't know about it before), and the court will weigh it heavily when it decides whether to do so.
