Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
will court return personal property?
how do i go about getting back personal property from a superior court? it was taken from me by the DA who prosecuted my case (petty theft) alleging that the property was stolen, just one of many i was accused of shoplifting. i brought into the court a purse (security device still intact) which was a x-mas gift to me from my mother, in which i have the original receipt.

California Penal code section 1538.5 provides for a motion to be made to request the return of property held by a government agency. The attorney that represented you in the criminal matter should be able to assist you in getting your property returned.
