That depends on what charges you face in California, how eager the prosecutor is to bring you back, and the circumstances under which you're apprehended. But if the California authorities ask the local police to hold you for a while, the police will probably do so.

One agency will generally hold you so long as the other agency is going to send someone to bring you back.
