Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Will I have to be put in jail

I am being charged with a mis-deameanor in a case where I walk in on my girlfriend having sex with another guy. The other guy put his hands on me and I defended myself. My girlfriend didn't press any charges but the guy she was having sex with pressed charges against me and the officer files two counts of assult and battery against me. My girlfriend asked them to drop the case but the police officer refused and sent the case to the DA. I was told today that a warrant for my arrest will be sent out. My question is will I be arrested and put in jail when I receive the notice and turn myself in? I don't want to be put in jail so what is the procedure when a warrant is mail to my home and I have to turn myself in? Will I be book and put in jail and then have to bail myself out?

Re: Will I have to be put in jail

You should contact a local attorney regarding this matter. It is my experience that each county has its own procedure to take care of a warrant. Do not ignore the notice of a warrant being issued against you. Often in cases of this type you can go to the police station and go through the booking process. This will avoid your being sent to jail.
