Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Can I win this trial

I was arrested for passing fruadulant currency. I broke $50 at a bowling alley. and later that day was caught with 4 counterfit 20's on me. my story is some guy i dont know gave me the money after one day of work with him. I have very bad eyesight so i couldn't tell the difference, plus it was dark when i reiceved the money and was arrested. Im being charged with a felony. this is my first crime of this sort even though I do have a history of criminal offenses as a juvinile. If I have a witness saying I did work for that guy, is there a chance I could win trial.

Respond please.

Re: Can I win this trial

We lawyers are required to use only means that are consistent with the truth in defending persons accused of crimes. In other words, we won't help you sell your bogus story to a jury, especially if you tell your lawyer it is bogus. Passing funny money is a serious Federal crime, and it doesn't sound like you are very good at it. Time to find another line of work.

Re: Can I win this trial

I completely agree with Mr. Stone.

Juries are pretty good at distinguishing "stories" from the truth, so even if you try to use it there is little chance you will win. And since even you call it a story, it is obviously not true.

Additionally, there is a serious flaw in your plan which I am not going to identify for you. If you try to use this story in court, you will learn about it from the prosecutor.

You can always win at trial.
