Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

I just had a wobbling felony conviction (grand theft [person]) reduced to a misdemeanor, and then expunged. This happened in CA. I have some questions about the implications:

1) Will I be able to own a firearm now?

2) Will this crime be removed from the DOJ and FBI record disclosed to potential employers?

3) Would you please generally elucidate the "background check" implications of this action.

1 Answer from Attorneys

Anthony Roach Law Office of Anthony A. Roach

1) It depends on what the underlying charge was.

2) It is not removed. Your record remains, and it now states that the charge was dismissed pursuant to the Penal Code section on expungements.

3) It depends on how an employer does a background check.
