Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I was writing to a girl in the Philippines . On face book she is listed as being 18 . We became close and we both used language that was sexual . I found out through one of her relatives that she is only 16. I stopped using any kind of sexual language to her after I became doubtful as to her true age. However , can i still possibly get into trouble for the inappropriate language I used before when I assumed that she was 18 because of her listing it that way on Face Book. She continually insists that she is 18 and fast approaching 19 this November 6th. Her grandmother insists that she is only 15 and will be 16 on Nov.6th. Please advise and help me.

I do not think that the issue of whehter you used offensive langauge is effected by how old the girl is. Yes, you could get into trouble, and might very well if you offend her. You do not state your age. Tell her that you need to know what her age is and must have proof of it because if she is a minor you would be ashamed of what you said and will have to stop communicating with her. Neither of you seem to be very mature in your actions; you should end the relationship no matter what her age is.
