Legal Question in Discrimination Law in California
Harassment at work by women co-workers; management allowed.
I recently quit the federal job training agency because two of my co-workers who didn't like me started spreading rumors that I carry a loaded gun to work; had been bragging about my sexual prowess; was doing work from our agency for another staff member who has her own business. These workers made such bizarre accusations and our management would not do anything. I finally quit. I have memos that they wrote to my manager that had outright lies about me. Isn't this slander? Didn't my agency contribute to sexual discrimination?

your fact situation isn't real clear on harassmentIf you have memos (witten) that are false andare not protected by employment privileges, you may have a libel action against the authors. It will be hard to bring in the employer unlessit has requested the memos. It remains very difficult for and employer to stop verbal harassmentby one employee vs another. If sexual, then employer must attempt to stop it.
