Legal Question in Discrimination Law in California

Is this sexual and Age discrimination?

I can not put my domestic partner of 24 years on my insurance because we are not gay or over the age of 62. ''Family Code Section 297-297.5'' We fit all the criteria except the age and gender. What would it take to change this code? Other then having to get married or have a sex change. What are my rights?

You should be able to name anyone you want as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy. You cannot add anyone except a recognized family member to group health policies. I don't think the law is about to change at this point. Feel free to discuss this with members of the state legislature.
