Legal Question in DUI Law in California

Can a 17 year old have a modified penalty for a DUI in Calif.?

My daughter got a DUI . She will lose her license for a year, I've been told. She will pay a fine,

I believe. Is there anyway we can ask for

leniency or a lesser penalty?

Unfortunately, the so-called "zero tolerance" laws for drivers under 21 are quite inflexible. The only exception to the one-year suspension are work-restricted licenses where there is a hardship -- which the DMV has interpreted to mean that the license is necessary to work and the juvenile is the primary means of family support.
