Legal Question in DUI Law in California
do you admit to driving under the influence in your "letter of apology" to the judge after requesting a 654?

I instruct my clients to focus on the future. How are you going to change your life? What have you done since the incident to ensure that it will not happen again?
As for the conduct it is fine to accept responsibility by saying 'that you are deeply sorry for lack of judgement and the risk that it put the public in.'
I do not recommend an express admission because that may be used against you in an appeal if the judge goes very harsh on you.
I will warn you that I have had a judge (one single judge in years) mention that my client did not accept responsibility even though he reported that he 'regretted the entire situation and hoped that the complaining witness will be able to recover from the injuries.'
