Legal Question in DUI Law in California

me and bf went out to a bar. I have a cdl and he doesnt. I got tipsy so I asked him to drive . Making the turn into the parking lot of the hotel we were staying at the headlights went off. we got pulled over. The police told us our headlights were out. asked him for his cdl. we told him he didnt have one. That I had him drive because I couldnt. They automaticaly asked him he had been drinking he drank 1 beer. Then They asked him to get out of the car asked a bunch of ? and then had him do the breath test 3 times . Also they made him do the other tests but he didnt understand the officer. Is it a valid dui violation.

Driving without lights would be a valid reason to stop the car. Whether there is a DUI will depend on whether your boyfriend was over the limit when he did the breath test.
