Legal Question in DUI Law in California

My brother was arrested on Friday . He is being charged for a misdemeanor. He was taken to court today and the judge 's last call was to let him go and he would pay by community labor, but we were told that they would take him were he was taken at first when he got arrested to pick up his belongings. And we just found out after hours he was sent to jail. We called the jail and said they have not put him in the system and cannot give us any information . what can we do ? how long will this process take to get information, on when will they let him out?

You don't say what county he was arrested in but it can be late at night
