Legal Question in DUI Law in California

How to choose an attorney in a very intense and emotional DWI/ vehicular manslau

I was the driver in an accident that killed my best friend, and injured her boyfriend.

Facing 3 charges in monterey county, california- superior court.

vehicular manslaughter w/ gross negligence

dwi causing bodily injury

driving on a suspended dl.

i need to find an attorney who will take this to trial with me as my current attorney used to be the assistant da and is advising me to plea. my mentor is the president of a chapter of the aclu and has strongly advised against this, but she admits that since she is in a different state she is ignorant to any particulars in california. but what resonates is how many inmates main reason for feeling cheated or wronged was due to a plea bargin.

i need rehabilitation. i have a panic disorder and i am a chronic alcholic. not excuses, just facts. i know i need to be punished, but i also need to get help very badly. her family feels the same way. i am so broken over this i could really use some sound advice if anyone has some insight. thanks.

You will need to consult with an attorney and fully discuss the facts of your case and the proposed plea bargain. Without such information it is impossibile to comment on whether the plea bargain is a good deal. Your emotional condition may mitigate your conduct some, but the alcohol problem will likely provide little sympthy from either the da or a jury.
